Blizzard of 2010
The blizzard of 2010 has reared its ugly head! It was a quiet Friday night when the snow began to fall and it was all down hill after that! Around 9:00pm on Friday the roads were covered and we didn't have any electricity, unfortunately we have also don't have a fireplace or gas range either. By Saturday mid afternoon our house was down to 54 degrees and steadily falling. We knew that we had to find refuge somewhere else. The problem was that we had got over 2 feet of snow and the plows hadn't come near our street yet so there was no chance of escaping by vehicle. Luckily we had a friend that had 4 wheel drive and was willing to pick us up and take us to my parents house who not only had power, but they had cable, Internet and phone as well. We packed up clothes and necessities as quickly as we could and headed out on foot to the next street. The normally 2 minute walk took us about 15 minutes. Not to mention we were also carrying our very frightened kitten in her traveling case...meowing the whole time. We finally made it to the end of the road (up hill, both ways, in 2 feet of snow, I can't wait to use that one on the kids some day) and there was our light at the end of the tunnel (we call him Jack)waiting for us. We escaped to my parents house for two nights and then finally were able to return on Monday. The kids have been having a lot of fun in the snow. I really can't believe how much snow we got, not to mention how fast it came! We are finally dug out and the roads are clear, however, it started snowing again about an hour ago and we already got the phone call that the kids don't have school again tomorrow, this is the third day in a row. We are hoping the snow stops falling, starts melting and we can start having some fun again, that isn't snow related!
