July Happenings

I can't believe it's been 3 weeks since our last post! Once you read how busy we have been, you'll understand why. Nathan just finished up with his South Park summer program, this month was filled with Elementary Rec, Flag Football, and the ever popular Capture the Flag which involves 4 hours, a creek, tons of mud and tons of fun for them as well. Although neither team actually captured the flag, Nathan was able to capture about 4 pounds of mud!
The kids love that The Ondo's (Tracy, Jack & Christian) got a pool last year and I have a hard time dragging them out of it, we have been having so much rain these past 2 weeks they are starting to go through withdrawal!
We ventured off to Baltimore for a weekend of baby showers for my cousin Matt and his wife Amy. David and I stayed at my other cousin Patrick's house with his wife Amy (popular name) and their absolutely adorable 7 month old Taylor. I cannot say enough about little Taylor, she was an absolute doll, and so pleasant! The entire time we were there she was an angel! She wasn't able to take a nap because of all the noice at the shower and was still a trooper smiling and babbling the whole time. I have been having baby fever and hanging out with her definately helped with my craving to have another one. David and I are thinking about maybe trying next year, we'll see. We had a great time hanging out with them, the boys went golfing and the girls went to my Godmother Ellen's house for the shower.
The following Sunday David and I had a rewind session with the photographer from our wedding. We got to put on our wedding attire again, and galavant in downtown Pittsburgh for a couple of hours while he took some amazing shots. On a Sunday afternoon downtown is pretty empty so we were even able to get some interesting shots in the middle of intersections. Rewind sessions are great because the couple gets a chance to relax and take thier time without anyone waiting on them for the start of the reception and they don't have to ruin the element of suprise by having a groom see his bride before the wedding. We had so much fun with our photographer and I highly recommend any couple doing a Rewind session after all the hoopla is overwith...we will post the images once we ge them.
We also took the kids to the South Park Children's Theatre to see the story of The Spontaneous Summit of Storybook Scoundrels. The theatre is outdoors but shaded and the kids had a blast, they even got to meet and get autographs from the characters which included, The Wicked Witch of the West, The Big Bad Wolf, The Evil Queen from Snow White, Captain Hook, and The Mad Hatter. Kadence was a little afraid but warmed up once she saw the wolf had his nails painted, then she insisted on showing him hers nails were painted too. The theatre offered several plays this summer and we are taking the kids this week to see Sleeping Beauty as well.
Nathan went with The Ondos's to the Pittsburgh Zoo and the boys had a great time, I gave Nathan our old camera to use and he came home with about 200 images, most of which were in focus, this is becoming his new hobby and he actually has a good eye for it. He was really excited to see the new shark exhibit and the boys got to touch snakes while they were there too. We are taking an overnight trip to Cleveland in August to visit the Cleveland Zoo and the Chilren's Museum. We are also going to be accomplanied by The Ondo and Haddad families, it's like a little South Park field trip. The kids are counting the days until we go.
It was a month for baby showers as I went to my cousin Amy's (again popular name) baby shower. After a couple of years of trying she is pregnant with not just one but TWINS! She is actually going to have 2 baby showers as well, one for family and in a couple of weeks another one for friends and co-workers. She will be twice as blessed in more ways than one. She looks fantastic and is holding up great! Our Ohio cousins came in for the shower so it was nice to get a chance to be with them as well.
We went bowling with the kids one evening in Mt. Lebanon with The Haddad's. It's great doing activites with them because both their son and daughter are the same age and in the grade as our kids. It works out perfect! The kids did really well bowling, although Kadence only really bowled for one game and then all she wanted to do was play games. The boys really enjoyed themselves and I think this is something we may start to do with them on a regular basis.
Last week was the Finleyville Carnival so we met up with The Haddad's and had some fun riding on the rides and playing some games. Unfortuately David took a ride on the Octopus which is a ride that does nothing but spin and they forgot to let him off after the ride was over and he got to experience the ride twice, needless to say he was not feeling to well after that. The kids all won prizes and Kadence is almost big enough to ride on all the rides, by next year she will be unstopable!
Inbetween all of our activities we even managed a few play dates, a couple of days at the playground, a sleep over for Nathan and some lunches with friends...oh yeah and tons of schoolwork for me, almost done though. We even got Kadence's ears pierced this month. She was fine with it until they actually pierced them, she cried for about 30 seconds until she looked in the mirror and saw them..the tears were gone and she let out a huge "YES" as she realized what had just happened. She is such a girly girl and is not shy about showing off her newly peirced lobes.
Next week should be filled with more adventures for the kids including the Pleasant Hills Parade, The Children's Theatre, and Idlewild Park on Kadence's birthday and then her party on Saturday, I'm even going to sneak in a girls night! Wow, that was a long post, but it's been a fun filled month for The Frost Family.
